Change the Narrative

The Expresion Storytelling Fellowship is a national professional development initiative dedicated to amplifying the voices and narratives of Latine educators. Co-led by the Latinx Education Collaborative and Storytellers for Change, the fellowship engages participants in an asset-based and healing-centered storytelling process to identify, craft, and share stories rooted in identity, cultural wealth, and community impact.

The fellowship creates a supportive, culturally affirming environment where fellows:

  • Explore and celebrate their identities
  • Engage in a critical study of counter-storytelling
  • Reflect on leadership and professional journeys
  • Build storytelling skills
  • Shape narratives that advance educational equity and justice

"Expresión has changed me. Not only do I think I’ve been able to discover beautiful and complicated aspects of my identity that I had previously not seen, but I also know that I have grown. The process was arduous and easy; important and fun; and ultimately an exercise of self-love and community work." - Olivia Flores

"A story is more than just words strung together. This fellowship is designed to walk you through each step, facilitating healing as you craft your story and identify your purpose. Whether you're sharing a personal childhood memory or seeking to honor your ancestors, this program will guide you every step of the way." - Emily Gasca

"Expresión has been a deeply healing and affirming experience, one that has nourished my spirit and grounded me in community. I carry with me those sacred moments of shared truth, validation, and belonging. These offerings have reminded me that storytelling is not just about being heard; it’s about being seen, remembered, and rooted. - Deanna Muñoz
