Course Overview
This cohort-based program offers a blended learning experience that includes five interactive workshops, two personalized coaching sessions, and full access to our self-guided online course, Storytelling for Social Impact. Together, these components support individuals and organizations in harnessing the power of storytelling to advance meaningful change.
Whether you are developing a personal narrative or shaping your organization’s storytelling approach, the cohort model offers both structure and community to deepen learning and application.
Core Learning Areas
- Identifying Your Story: Participants explore methods to uncover and harvest meaningful stories rooted in lived experience, values, and goals. This phase helps clarify purpose, audience, and the core message behind each narrative.
- Crafting Your Story: Through workshops and course content, participants learn storytelling techniques that bring stories to life. This includes understanding narrative structure, character, setting, and emotional resonance.
- Sharing Your Story: Participants develop stories they can immediately apply within their work and organizations. Workshops and coaching sessions provide opportunities to practice sharing, receive feedback, and refine storytelling skills in real time.
By the end of the program, participants will have the tools, confidence, and clarity to create authentic narratives grounded in effective storytelling principles—stories that communicate impact and inspire action.
Testimonials
"For any organization leader, facilitator, or content creator working in the non-profit or Foundation space, this program with Storytellers for Change is your next essential course. You will reflect on who you serve and how to center those voices authentically. You will challenge yourself to be a better listener and to find partners who will hold space for you and help you hone your own 'why' and your voice. You will use frameworks and receive coaching that will help you take your storytelling, story-listening, and facilitation skills to the next level."
— Anne Bannister, Director of Narrative & Producer @ Charles Butt Foundation
"I write personally and creatively. This cohort has helped me unlock stories facilitating healing and deep reflections. I have also weaved this cohort's storytelling approaches and resources into my teaching. I've also shown my storyboard to my students, allowing for greater access and appeal to my tactile, kinesthetic, and differently creative learners. This is a powerful experience for educators looking to deepen their commitment to storytelling."
— Jan Rog @ Greater Kansas City Writing Project
"This is one of the best online courses I have ever taken. I loved the activities, booklets, and how engaging each meeting was. Seeing the growth of my cohort members as time went by was truly inspirational."
— Abari Charles, Clinical Research Professional
"I think the most important aspect of the cohort was having access to a space where I could talk about my experiences, stories, and the work that I do through an asset-based approach. I was able to talk about my experiences and talk about the things that I do and people just understood me.”
— Jalessa Trap, PhD Student in the Lifelong Kindergarten Research Group MIT Media Lab
